Don Blankenship is hitting the big time. Find out why we have such a hard time getting anywhere with our WV leadership. Tonight, ABC World News and Nightline will be airing a feature about Don Blankenship (Massey Coal CEO) and his relationship with the WV Supreme Court. The footage will include a display of Don’s true colors as he gets in a scuffle with an ABC anchorman.
This is the same man who, when confronted with the fact that Massey coal trucks are killing people every year because of not following the weight regulations stated, “The truth of the matter is…. four to six fatalities a year, with the number of miles coal trucks are traveling on these highways, is no worse than average.”
Never an apology from him. It doesn’t matter that it’s PEOPLE that are killed….someone’s father, daughter, mother, wife, husband. He has the same callous attitude towards the people in the coalfields who are being sacrificed for profit.
Kudos to ABC for airing the struggle here……

I just watched the ABC news at 6:30, ahh, the whole segment was like a sweet melodic song to my ears. The lyrics were excellent and the way Asa crooned “Mr. Blankenship, Mr. Blankenship, please release me, Mr. Blankenship, please”, as the big burly oaf kept roughing him up. Amazing vocalist that Asa.
This sweet tune is a hot one and is bound to shoot up the charts.
Just seeing an accurate portrayal of what is occuring here, instead of the media bias from the local stations, literally gave me chill bumps. Here’s hoping that the rest of the country will soon know our dirty little secret of our biased court.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was watching. I was pretty happy about the part of the FBI’s questioning of the Supreme Court fiasco. It’s about time the rest of the nation sees the wolf behind massey energy.
I’ve also been reading where the company that was suing massey is now taking their case to the US Supreme Court. I would say that is where Massey’s luck will run out.
pretty much a mirror of this post, but her hesdline is great: http://www.antigravitas.com/2008/04/king-coal-not-such-merry-old-soul.html
