A few months ago a person commented on this blog about being able to see a mountaintop removal sight from nearly any ridge in the coalfields. Usually comments don’t stick with me very long. Thursday I went for a ride along the top of Coal River Mountain and I couldn’t help but think about that comment.
There is a reason they say Coal River Mountain is one of the last intact mountains in the area. No matter where you look, you see mountaintop removal in the distance.
